What is Reflexology of Hands and Feet?

Reflexology is a natural therapy and belongs to the group of complementary treatment methods, which address and re-orient the person at all levels, always within the context of their regenerative capabilities. It helps to restore not only our physical, but also emotional and mental balance.

Reflexologists are applying pressure to different areas on hands or feet, which impacts the health of related parts of the body. By pressing a particular point on hands or feet, the point acts as a sensor and is specifically linked to different parts of the body. These sensors are stimulated by different reflexology tehniques and help to improve the blood and energy circulation, give a sense of deep relaxation, and maintain homeostasis.

The clients with the following complaints have proved effective for this:

  • Skeletomuscular disturbances and malfunctions (e.g., cervical or lumbar syndrome, muscular hypertonus, ischialgias, restricted movement of various joints)
  • Digestive troubles (e.g., problems in the upper abdomen, meteorism, liver and gall bladder disorders, constipation, hemorrhoids)
  • Dysmenorrhea and other functional disturbances of menstrual cycle
  • Chronic or acute cold or sinusitis, susceptibility to colds
  • Lymphatic disorders, especially in children, allergies
  • Headaches of various kinds and origin

(H. Marquardt, 2016)

  • Deep relaxation
  • Detoxification of the body
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Boosted Imune system
  • Emotional balance
  • Improved concentration and focus
